Pain Management

Time and Frequency of Treatments

1. Acute Injuries

For recent injuries, treatment is often needed more frequently to help move qi and blood and to support recovery using techniques like acupuncture, herbs, and topicals.

2. Chronic Issues

Chronic conditions take time to heal, and it’s important to stay patient and consistent with treatment. Think of it this way: if you’ve had the issue for just a day, I might only need a day to help. But if you’ve been dealing with it for a few months, it might take several weeks of treatment. Healing is a process, and I’m here to support you through it every step of the way.

3. Treatment Plans

  1. Focus on Immediate Relief: We’ll start by addressing the most pressing symptoms to help you feel better quickly.
  2. Follow-Up and Accountability: I’ll ask for your feedback on how the last treatment helped, so we can make adjustments if needed.
  3. Build Progress Over Time: We’ll continue addressing immediate concerns while also working toward your long-term health goals.

4. What to Expect During the Process

  • Many patients feel noticeably better after just one treatment. In most cases, I can reduce your pain by 60–70% in a single session.
  • My treatments are interactive. I’ll start by using points to calm your nervous system, helping your body relax. Then, I’ll follow the treatment plan and use specific points to relieve your pain. Most of the needles are so gentle that you won’t feel them; a few might feel slightly pokey but only for a second or two.
  • During the session, I’ll check in to see how your pain changes as I add each set of points. Once your pain is 60–80% better, I’ll adjust the room temperature to your comfort, dim the lights, hand you a bell, and let you rest quietly for 20–30 minutes.

Frequency of Treatments

  • While some patients feel better after one session, chronic or long-standing issues usually require more time. Think of it this way: if you’ve had the issue for just a day, I might only need a day to help. But if you’ve been dealing with it for a few months, it might take several weeks of treatment.
  • Most patients begin to feel lasting improvement after 6–12 treatments, though some may need more, depending on the condition. My goal is to help you resolve this issue as quickly and efficiently as possible.

5. Your Role in the Process

Please track your progress throughout the day. Make note of when your pain improves or worsens. This helps me tailor your treatment to your specific needs.

Lastly, Every body heals at their own pace. Whether your injury is big or small, I’m here to guide and support you through it. Seeking care is a brave step, and I’m committed to doing everything I can to help you heal. Please remember to be kind to yourself—this isn’t your fault, and you absolutely deserve time to rest and recover.

  • Modulating Neural Activity: Acupuncture might help reduce pain by calming down the nerves that send pain signals. It does this by decreasing the activity of certain cells that trigger pain and inflammation.
  • Releasing Natural Painkillers: Acupuncture can trigger your body to release its own natural painkillers, like endorphins. Using electro-acupuncture, which adds gentle electrical stimulation, can affect which pain-relieving chemicals your body releases.
  • Activating the Body’s Pain Control System: Acupuncture may boost your body’s ability to control pain by increasing levels of chemicals like serotonin and norepinephrine, which help reduce the feeling of pain.’
  • Improving Blood Flow and Reducing Inflammation: By stimulating specific points, acupuncture can improve blood flow and reduce inflammation, which can both help relieve pain.
  • Chronic pain: Back and Hip Pain, Neck and Shoulder Pain, Knee and Elbow Pain, Ankle and Wrist Pain, Bone Spurs, Plantar Fasciitis, Jaw Pain, Headaches/Migraines, and Feet pain, and Non-Healing Wounds.
